Reusable Cloth Sanitary Pads in India Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective: Hello everyone, welcome back to gobloggertribe. Today, I will be doing a review video on Soch Cloth Pads. For those who don’t know me, I’m Neha, and in this article, I will talk about women’s health and reusable, sustainable menstrual hygiene products such as menstrual cups, cloth pads, period panties, and labia pads.
I’m personally not a fan of disposable sanitary pads, even if they claim to be biodegradable. They are a big hassle for the environment. So why not switch to reusable cloth pads? At first, they might seem a little expensive, but if you do the math and see how many times you can actually use them, they can save you money in the long run.
Today, I will be reviewing Soch Cloth Pads.
Question:
I am a young woman who is 22 years old and studying in college. I have heard about using reusable sanitary pads instead of disposable pads from some of the girls in college. Are these cloth pads that can be washed, dried, and reused? Are disposable pads really harmful? I want to know which type of pad is more suitable to use. Please provide information.
Answer: In the past, cloth pads were used during periods. Even today, many women in rural areas and remote regions still use cloth pads. Then came the advent of sanitary pads, which brought about a revolution. It was believed that cloth pads could cause various types of infections, which is why all women began to use sanitary pads due to their convenience.
Using Sanitary Pads for a Long Time can be Dangerous for Health
It is true that using sanitary pads for a long time can be dangerous for health. Nowadays, pads contain chemicals such as gel, propylene, polyactivated, and cydine, which are super absorbent, making the pad comfortable and long-lasting. Chemicals such as acetone are added to it for fragrance.
Since pads only absorb blood, the chemicals present in them get absorbed by the skin, causing some women to experience rashes and itching. Long-term use of sanitary pads can also cause health problems such as hormonal imbalances, infertility, and cervical cancer.
Additionally, in today’s date, there is also an issue of disposal of disposable sanitary pads for environmentalists. Because sanitary pads do not come in wet waste or dry waste, they cannot be recycled or turned into compost. They can end up in landfills and take up to 400 years to decompose, which is quite harmful to the environment.
Eco-Friendly Cloth Pads
These days, cotton cloth pads with wings and leak-proof technology are available in the market. They come in various beautiful designs, and we can choose our pads according to our dress. These pads are reusable.
The special feature of these pads is that they have cotton inside and leak-proof cloth on the outside. They can be used for 4 to 6 hours. A pair of cotton pads lasts comfortably for 3 to 4 years. These are eco-friendly cloth pads. These pads are also available on online shopping sites like Amazon, Flipkart, and other sites.
Instructions for Washing Cloth Pads
Suited fabrics are easy to wash, fold, and carry. Place the used cloth pad under running water for 15 seconds, and gently wash it with soap, avoiding the use of a brush. Then, rinse the cloth in cold water as hot water can set stains.
To prevent bacterial growth, dry the fabric under the sun. Do not use fabric softener and follow the care instructions properly, to use these cloth napkins for an extended period of time.
